Dawn Gardner has been an instrumental leader in the implementation and success of an elementary mathematics resource for Harford County Public Schools.........Not only does she work directly with the teachers and students in her assigned schools, her work radiates throughout all thirty-four elementary schools.......member of the principal’s advisory committee........Mrs. Gardner contributed her thoughts and ideas to the structure of this year’s math professional development for teachers and administrators........ As a former principal, Mrs. Gardner understands the importance of considering how a change in instruction impact students’ families........Mrs. Gardner actively participated in a two-year professional development around of the shifts in instructional practice......developed the details of the year-long professional development plan to support teachers.......Mrs. Gardner planned professional development sessions across five schools.....Ms. Gardner presented these sessions to second grade teachers, special educators, and administrators from five schools during regional professional development days........er talents in instructional technology are exemplary. Mrs. Gardner participated, shot the footage, edited and prepared for distribution of two mathematics videos for school families across the district.......Mrs. Gardner collaborated with a colleague to plan and deliver a county-wide professional development workshop (Data Emergency!) to a K-12 audience of teachers and administrators on how to develop specific data collection tools, how to collect specific data on students’ misconceptions, and then how to use the data to respond to students’ needs during instruction and in planning future instruction.

Mrs. Gardner worked hard to gain the trust of the staff .............she had many ideas to share . ........I looked to Mrs. Gardner to help plan and implement staff development. We worked closely with the School Improvement Team and our various data sources to identify needs .......The sessions she developed were well-planned and modeled strategies she wanted teachers to use in their own classrooms. Professional development topics were always on current, researched based strategies that were selected specifically to meet a particular need of our teachers and students.........she helped create and implement a year-long professional development plan. Along with presentations on specific topics, this plan included planning sessions, observations to do job-embedded professional development, and opportunities to visit exemplary classrooms.......... She’s a self-starter .....She used her knowledge of various computer programs to help us become more efficient and teachers’ lessons more engaging......Mrs. Gardner is proud to be an educator. Ms. Gardner takes the lead in reviewing the progress reports of special educators to ensure they are communicating meaningful information and data on attainment of IEP goals and objectives........facilitated a data collection professional development where she highlighted a teacher who utilizes effective data collection through Office 365 One Note. As a result, teachers were motivated to utilize One Note to collect real time data including photographs and videos..........As a skilled videographer, Ms. Gardner also donated her time and expertise to the Department of Special Education to create a video highlighting one school’s approach to utilizing Superflex as a Multitiered System of Support. This video was shared with several schools as well as administrators as an effective innovative school initiative......strong work ethic and a passion for providing meaningful and applicable professional learning experiences with teachers.........Ms. Gardner is truly an asset to Harford County Public Schools.
